Trustee and stakeholder members of the Finance Committee met virtually on April 21, 2021.
Committee members heard an update on spending of the District’s portions of the Provincial Safe Return to School Grant and the Federal Safe Return to Class Fund. Four priorities determine spending of the grants: health and safety, communication, connections and community, and continuity of learning. Spending of these grants continues in areas such as cleaning supplies, technology, and upgrades to ventilation systems.
The committee then listened to an update on the development of the District’s 2021-22 Operating Budget. Members raised items they are interested in exploring for potential inclusion in the budget.
The Finance Committee is set to continue discussion of the budget on May 12, 2021. Three readings and adoption of the 2021-22 Annual Budget Bylaw are set to occur on May 25, 2021.
