As the winter break begins, many families in the Vancouver School District who may have had food security concerns, will now have stocked cupboards, thanks to a generous donation from the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Real Canadian Superstore.
Via the food bank, the Real Canadian Superstore donated gift cards for vulnerable families throughout the District.
“It’s nothing short of amazing – this donation,” says Matt Redkwich, Manager of Business Development at the Vancouver School District. “What the Greater Vancouver Food Bank has provided for us is more than expected. People need food security more than ever, and this will help to provide that for hundreds of families.”
Administrators continue to request gift cards for families in their schools.
"Having access to grocery gift cards over the winter break is an appreciated support for students and families," says Sarah Rutherford, Manager of Enhanced Services at the Vancouver School District.
The District wishes to express a sincere thank you to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Real Canadian Superstore.
