New Program in Carnarvon Library!

Carnarvon Library / Learning Commons is joining the VPL and Libraries across Canada to support Canadian authors,  illustrators and publishers.

The Red Cedar Book Award is given to the best young person’s book written, illustrated, or published in Canada in a particular year.  There are 2 categories: Fiction and Information.

The Chocolate Lily Book Award is given to the best young persons book written or illustrated in only British Columbia. There are 3 categories: Picture Book, Early Chapter Book, and Intermediate Novel.

Both awards are based on young people voting on their favourite books from a list of Nominees produced in the past year of 2019.

We are inviting students to participate in this program by choosing to read 3 titles from each category in either list of Award Nominees then vote on their favourite read.  Students may begin to borrow books Tuesday Feb 28 and the program will continue until after Spring Break when we will collate the results and see which book wins the most votes. An Award Finale announcing the winners will happen later in the Spring.

The Nominee Lists are posted on our Bulletin Board in the main hall, on the Learning Commons Bulletin Board outside the Library and they are on display in the Library Commons.
