Yesterday, November 5, the Vancouver School District celebrated
Support Staff Recognition Day.
From building staff, office support, Student and School Support
Assistants, supervision aides and cafeteria workers to staff in grounds,
material services, operations, and many trades groups, support staff throughout
the District contribute their skills and expertise with dedication so that
children can thrive.
In appreciation of all support staff do, the District provides two
$2,500 scholarships, that will be awarded to graduating students at the end of
each school year.
The recipients of last year’s award in honour of support staff
were David Thompson Secondary student, Mackenzie Wong, and Templeton Secondary student, Alyana
Madlambayan. In their scholarship submissions, each shared how support staff impacted
their educational experience.
