Scholarship Information

THE VEAZY SCHOLARSHIP

A Veazey Scholarship pays $10,000 per year for tuition, books and fees for four years of undergraduate study at The University of British Columbia, for a total value of $40,000.

Please send Ms. McIntosh a written letter outlining why you believe you meet the following criteria, by February 24th to smcintosh@vsb.bc.ca

Criteria:

  • Excellent academic standing
  • Positive contribution to school and the community
  • Must show promise of using your post-secondary education to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
  • Must be attending UBC

 

It is an honour for a student to be nominated by their school for a Veazey Scholarship.

To recognize that honour, the nominees who are not awarded a Veazey Scholarship will

receive a Veazey Scholarship Nominee Award of $1,000.

ERIC MING SCHOLARSHIP

A few years ago a young man who was instrumental in East Van in volunteer work for the underprivileged and basketball passed away after a courageous battle against cancer and his name was Eric Ming. This young man’s commitment and his example in volunteer work has been memorialized into a $1000.00 scholarship to one male and one female.

The CMOLIK foundation scholarships award up to $40,000 to students who have faced financial challenges, overcome adversity and yet have contributed positively to either their school or community. We require the principal’s endorsement of the school’s chosen candidate. Please send Ms. McIntosh an email if you are interested in being nominated and a brief description of why you fit the criteria and would be a good nominee. The Kindness Foundation of Canada Nadine Marshall Scholarship

There is only one nominee from the school. If, interested please send me an outline of how you fit the criteria by December 16th so that the committee can meet in time for the nomination deadline.

The online application form for the 2019/2020 school year is now available. The deadline is February 28, 2020. If, interested please send me an outline of how you fit the criteria by January 13th so that the committee can meet in time for the nomination deadline.

Rotary Club Scholarships for Grade 10’s

The Rotary Club of Vancouver Stay-In-School Scholarship Program's purpose is to encourage students who have successfully completed Grade 10, at Gladstone Secondary School to stay in school and pursue post-secondary education.

Stay-In-School Scholarships have a total value of $7,000.

All students attending Gladstone Secondary School and enrolled in Grade 11 in the current year may complete an application for the scholarship. Selection of successful students will be based on the criteria and process as outlined below.

 

To receive the $7,000 scholarship, the student shall:

A.      have graduated Gladstone Secondary School

B.      have completed the requirements to enter a post-secondary institution or centre and provide proof of enrolment in the first year of studies;

C.     have maintained throughout their secondary school and post-secondary enrolment a high level of academic achievement, successful completion  of the first year’s course material, high personal standards of citizenship, and school and community involvement, similar to the level at the time of the original award.

D.     The student will complete a Statement of their successful completion of their first year’s post-secondary studies, together with proof of acceptance and enrolment in their second year of studies. Gladstone will forward an appropriate form for the student to complete.

E.      each year, both during the student’s secondary school life and while attending a post-secondary institution, the school principal and counsellor in consultation with the Committee of the Rotary Club of Vancouver shall review the status of the scholarship award and shall advise the students as to their continuation in the program.

 

Selection of students to receive a Notice of Scholarship Award shall be based on their application as submitted and the following criteria:

  • the financial need of the student’s family,
  • success in school subjects,
  • their high personal standards of citizenship
  • involvement in school and community activities and
  • the student's future plans.
