Weekly Update from Beaconsfield - April 15, 2020

April 15, 2020

Dear Beaconsfield Parents/Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you and your child or children well and safely enjoying some of this fine Spring weather. The Easter long weekend was certainly different for families this year!

Thank you for your continued support as Beaconsfield teachers and support staff. This week we are working on ensuring that all students who attend Beaconsfield School have access to the technology and learning materials they need to access their new continuous learning programs.

As we support students engaging with new platforms and technologies (such as Microsoft TEAMS), please remind your child/children of Beaconsfield's School Code of Conduct. While online, Beaconsfield students are expected to be Responsible, Respectful and Ready to Learn. Thank you for reviewing these expectations with your child/children and reminding them that when they are learning and communicating with Vancouver School Board staff and students online that our school expectations remain in place.

At this time, Beaconsfield teachers are expected to report student attendance on a weekly basis. If your child is not able to engage with classroom teachers, please reach out and let them know. If you are not sure how to reach them, please call our school office between 8:30-2:30 pm at 604-713-4605. Monday to Friday. Thank you.

While students and their parents/guardians are not allowed access to our building at this time, please continue to contact your child's teacher if there are essential items that need to be picked up (eg. glasses, epi pens etc). Over time, we will provide further information about other, less essential items that your child or children have stored safely at our school.

With the sudden change in access to Beaconsfield School, many families may have library books at home. If you would like to keep these books to read for now, that is great news! However, if you would like to return your library books, Ms. Quinlan has set up a book return bin labelled "Library Book Return" at the back of our school under our covered area. Please drop your library books by on Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17th between 11:00-1:00 pm. We ask that you observe physical distancing when you come to our school and that you refrain from coming to our school if you are sick or not feeling well.

Beaconsfield Parents/Guardians are encouraged to check out this district website.
