Welcome to March

This last month, although short, was a very busy one of remembrance and celebrations. We observed Black History Month, Pink Shirt Day and Hobiyee. I would like to thank all the parents and staff who helped make February a rich learning month for all our students.

Another special thank you to our PAC who funded the purchase of button making machine. For pink shirt day all our students created buttons with messages of kindness and inclusion. If you would like to be part of our PAC please come to our next meeting this Thursday. Everyone is welcome!

9:15 am Assembly – Primary and Intermediate

With spring coming soon the days are getting longer and it is getting lighter earlier. We are finding that parents and students are arriving earlier to school. Although the enthusiasm for school is commendable we would like parents to note that the time before 9:00 am at school is preparation time for the teachers and educational assistants. They are usually working hard at preparing the room and materials for your child's day. If you do happen to arrive early please play outside until the beginning of instructional time. Thank you for this consideration.

As you can see we have conferences coming up this week. Please take this time to learn more about what is happening in our classrooms. In the past 3-5 years teaching and curriculum has changed and this may be a good opportunity to meet with your teacher and learn about current expectations.

This month at our school we will also see some references to the festival of Holi, Purim as well as St. Patrick's Day. If you are interested there are celebrations for all three of these events around the lower mainland that are open to the public.

Have a great March,

Jonathan Weresch
