Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary School is a busy family-oriented school
enrolling approximately 230 students from kindergarten through grade 7. Our
school has a diverse cultural mix with approximately 18 different language
groups represented. Within this group many of our students speak Punjabi,
Tagalog, Hindi, Cantonese, Urdu, Tamil, Mandarin, or Spanish as their first
language at home.
Our PAC members and parents are a vital part of the school. Parents and
extended family members are encouraged to support their own child's learning as
well as the whole school community. Their constant assistance allows us to
enhance the learning and educational opportunities within our school. Some of
the special events such as field trips, special lunch days, and multi-cultural
or school celebrations are part of our endeavor to include and commend the
important role parents, guardians, extended family members and community members
have within our school. They also participate in fund-raising, PAC meetings,
reading activities, and sports programs within our school.
Our School Community
Trudeau Elementary School offers an inclusive, supportive learning
environment for all children. Our students benefit from a diverse school
experiences which is a reflection of their cultural backgrounds. They have many
opportunities to learn through exploration and hands-on activities about our
school, community and the world around them. There has been a strong focus
on literacy for many years. We believe that developing a passion for learning
and becoming citizens who represent our world in a respectful, responsible and
caring manner is essential for our students.
We proudly sponsor student teachers from the local universities. Many adults
volunteer to help us throughout the school year with various programs such as
One to One Reading, Learning Buddies, etc. We appreciate the additional
expertise and time offered by our volunteers.
Our staff members have diverse
pedagogical backgrounds. They bring a great deal of
professional knowledge and
experience which benefit our students. This collegial group is
cooperative, caring and creates a nurturing environment for the students of
Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary School.
