This has been a busy week as the district and schools work on the June 1st transition plans for the voluntary, part-time return to school. More information will be forthcoming next week. Thank you to all parents who completed the survey sent out on Wednesday. The information you have provided is important and will help guide us in our planning as we gradually begin to welcome some students back to school on a part-time basis.

After Spring Break, Superintendent Hoffman articulated the district’s four guiding principles:

  • Ensure the health and safety of students, staff and communities
  • Communicate thoughtfully, transparently and in a timely manner
  • Provide connections to ensure students feel valued and have a sense of belonging and community
  • Continued learning opportunities so that all students can successfully transition to their next phase of learning.

These continue to be the guiding principles as we plan for students' gradual return to school with health and safety being a top priority and communication being key as we transition to this next phase.

Next week, there is an opportunity for parents to attend a Teams Lunch and Learn.  Join the Event Link . This is a one hour Microsoft Office 365 Parent Demo. Microsoft Educators will walk parents through the basics of what BC students are able to access in Office 365. Parents will be given follow-up resources to access for help at home in the future. Suggestions of successful at-home learning will be shared. There will also be a live Q&A for parents to ask questions. This session will be recorded and shared publicly for those unable to make the lunch time slot.

Thank you in advance for your continued patience, support and understanding as we continue to navigate our “new” normal.  We look forward to being able to see some of our students back at school but also support those families who have chosen to keep their children at home and continue with remote learning. I am confident that if we continue to remain calm, steady, thoughtful, and also manage expectations, we will accomplish all we set out to do!
