As another week of remote learning comes to an end I thought I would attach a picture of happy memories from our spring concert. That seems like a lifetime ago! This week we all see a glimmer of the new normal ahead of us as we heard the government announcement today regarding moving forward with the next stage of learning for students in B.C. I anticipate that parents still have many questions and I thank you all for your patience as the district and schools plan for the future. As soon as I am able, I will provide updates from the district on next steps.
Today, as you are aware, Trudeau staff participated in a district professional development day with an Indigenous education focus. Our keynote speaker, Andrea Menard, panel discussion, and afternoon session with Dr. Jo-ann Archibald gave us much to think about and reflect upon with respect to how school communities can foster growth around allyship and collective responsibility to ensure we are all working together to lift up Indigenous education. Of course, this was all done remotely and in our new remote learning format.
Thank you to families for continuing to work with your children this week and supporting the staff as they provide opportunities for continued learning at home. This continues to be a journey that none of us will soon forget. Our new “normal” will continue to shape and grow as the situation evolves and, as a community, we will work together to make the best of the situation we find ourselves in.
Have a wonderful long weekend and we will connect again next week.
