Happy Halloween from Laurier Game Changers!
Dear Laurier Families,
Almost bye October! Hello November!
After two months of school everyone has settled into a great working routine. Laurier Eagles understand the school wide expectations and teachers have been reinforcing the SOARing behaviour that students are encouraged to embrace to help with their learning and interactions with others. As part of our ongoing communication of student learning, teachers will meet with you in November to discuss your child's performance at school. If you have not yet booked an online meeting with your child's classroom teacher, please contact them and schedule a meeting time. Please remember that students are dismissed at 2pm on November 3rd and 4th. We appreciate that our students are picked up at 2pm, as teachers are scheduled for parent meetings shortly after 2pm.
New Kindergarten Registration 2022-2023
All kindergarten applicants are required to submit an application to their English catchment elementary school. This includes families who wish to apply for choice programs (Early French Immersion, Montessori, Indigenous Focus School, Early Mandarin Bilingual, Nootka Fine Arts) and/or a cross boundary placement. The priority registration period for Kindergarten opens on November 1 and closes at 4 pm on January 31. Students who submit an application within this priority period will be accommodated before late applicants. Applying for kindergarten is a 2-step process. Please check the following link for more information on the registration process:
Priority kindergarten registration starting November 1
Pedestrian Safety Presentations and Traffic Enforcement
Each year, the Vancouver Police Department is offering the Pedestrian Safety and road safety / awareness presentations to students K-7. The primary goal is to reduce the number of pedestrians involved in collisions, keeping the students safe while travelling to and from school. We are pleased that we had the opportunity for our students to listen to an officer this week, who visited our students across grade levels and talked about pedestrian safety and also shared some Halloween safety tips.
The Traffic Officers typically also provide traffic enforcement and education in and around the school zones. Please check the following link and review the different signs around schools and explain them to your children as well: Traffic Signs. Please remember the No Parking (School days) sign means that drivers may stop for no more than five minutes to drop-off and pick-up. A legal parking spot should be found to wait longer or enter the school.
