The focus of our first school-wide assembly was Kindness and Gratitude. (Posters from the Kindness & Gratitude - Our Superpowers! performance by Steve Harmer)
Dear Laurier Families,
It was very exciting to have our first in-person 'Meet The Staff' event at our school after a couple of years. Great to see many of you in the hallways and classrooms in our building. We are looking forward to a year of learning and collaboration.
It was also very nice to meet parents at our first online PAC meeting on Tuesday. These meetings have always been productive and collegial. They create space for the participants to discuss the latest about our school, to ask questions and to plan for events and activities. We do hope that we have many more families to join us for future meetings. We do appreciate the home and school collaboration and the research-based benefits it has to support the well-being and growth of our students.

Terry Fox Run-Wednesday, September 28
To celebrate the legacy of Terry Fox, our school has organized a Terry Fox Run on September 28 from 9:15-10:30am. Many thanks to Ms. Boucher for leading this activity. Our students will watch a Terry Fox video in the gym followed by some warm up activities. They will then walk to the Oak Park for running a few laps around the park. If you do not want for your child to walk to the park and participate in the running activity, please contact your classroom teacher. Similar to last year, we are inviting our families to donate to the Terry Fox Foundations through our school cash online system. We are asking for a minimum $2 donation per student but if you wish to donate more, just increase the amount of items to increase the dollar amount. If you wish to receive a tax receipt, please donate directly to the Terry Fox Foundation.
September 29 Orange Shirt Day
As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th, the District and schools will be acknowledging the day in the lead up to September 30. On September 29, we will wear orange and participate in Orange Shirt Day events to recognize and raise awareness about the history and legacies of the residential school system in Canada. Orange Shirt Day originates from the story of Phyllis Webstad from the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation. In 1973, on her first day at St. Joseph’s Residential School in Williams Lake, BC, Phyllis’s shiny new orange shirt was stripped from her, never to be seen again. 40 years later, on September 30th, 2013, Phyllis spoke publicly for the first time about her experience, and thus began the Orange Shirt Day movement. Please click on the following link for more information: VSB Orange Shirt Day Flyer. You can order Laurier orange shirts via Laurier PAC - Please see below, in the Laurier PAC News section, as how to order these shirts.

All the payments should be made online using School Cash Online - Please see below. We appreciate to receive these forms by the deadline, so we can update and file all necessary information for each student at Laurier.
