Numeracy & Literacy Exams

Dear Grade 10 Parents and Guardians,

All Grade 10 students are to write the BC Ministry of Education Numeracy and Literacy Assessments as they are on the 2018 Graduation Program. They must complete this assessment before graduation in 2022. U-Hill will be offering the Numeracy Assessment, (now in it's third year) from January 22-24, 2020, from 8:40am to 11:25am. The Literacy Assessment, brand new this year, will be April 16, 17, 20, 2020, from 12:20pm to 3:03pm (expect April 20th will be from 8:40am to 11:25am). Information about the Literacy Assessment will come later this year. For more information on these two assessments, please visit:

https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/assessment/grade-10-numeracy-assessment

https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/assessment/literacy-assessment/grade-10-literacy-assessment

Students will be assigned a time and day to write based upon the first letter of their surname. Please see the information attached for when your child will be writing the Numeracy Assessment (on a school computer). If your child is not present at U-Hill during these days, they will have an opportunity to write the exams next year. Students will be connected with all the details for this assessment in their Career Life Education 10 classes at U-Hill. Grade 11 and 12 students who have yet to write this assessment will also be included in this opportunity to write. These students will be contacted directly by school staff, and their names will be listed in the U-Hill Student Bulletin each day until January 24th, 2020. For more information, please see the attachments (3 PDF files under RESOURCES) to this message and the BC Ministry of Education's website with more information about the assessment and pre-assessment activities at https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/assessment/grade-10-numeracy-assessment
