Update: April 27th - Message to VT Community

April 27, 2020

Dear Vancouver Technical Families,

We have been impressed by our staff and students, who in 2 weeks transformed our brick and mortar school into a remote learning site with meaningful educational opportunities. Most classrooms have re-engaged with learning opportunities using Microsoft Teams. The focus of this past week was to establish the new norms and routines for remote learning in all courses. This will continue to be the focus in the coming weeks.

This week, students will be permitted into the school to retrieve materials from their lockers that are needed for learning at home. This is not an invitation for continuous student access, but a one-time opportunity for students to retrieve essential learning materials. Please see schedule on the next page.

We have made arrangements for students who do not have access to technology to receive devices. If your family does not have a computer and your child is in need of a device, please contact the grade counsellor.

VSB Food Services has developed a weekly option to the daily lunch that is currently offered for families in need. It is a grocery bag filled with lunch supplies. The "Weekly Student Lunch Kit" will include student friendly groceries that is the equivalent of five daily lunches for the student. These bags will be available to families for pick-up from the outside cafeteria doors. An online Registration Form was developed to allow families to choose between the daily or weekly option. If you would like to change your response, please contact your grade counsellor.

The District will continue to keep the public informed of matters related to the COVID-19 response. Please visit the District website at for additional information, as well as the Vancouver Technical website for details that are specific to our Vancouver Technical School community.

Please review the information below pertaining to obtaining learning materials left at the school, assessment, VSB resources, Microsoft Teams, and continuity of learning & school procedures. If, after reviewing this information, you have specific questions, please contact the appropriate staff member(s) as outlined on the last page.

We hope you and your families are safe and healthy. Please know that we are here to help in any way that we can.
