The Vancouver School Board (VSB) accepts applications from parents of elementary-aged children who wish to attend school in Vancouver. 

Custodianship and Accommodation Requirements

All elementary-aged international students must live with a parent or an immediate family member (grandparent, aunt, or uncle) for the full duration of their studies in Vancouver. Proof of relationship and residency may be required at the time of application and throughout the student’s enrollment.

School Placement 

Students are placed with peers of the same year of birth. Please refer to our Application Instructions for details.

Placement is based on the student’s English language ability and the Vancouver residential address of the parent or immediate family member. English Language Learning (ELL) support is provided through pull-out classes, as needed.

Applicants should indicate their expected residential area on the application form. Elementary school placement is subject to availability within the appropriate grade level and eligible programs.
