📰 DLG Weekly Update | March 9 – 13

Hello Families and Friends,

🌟 International Women’s Day!
We are excited to celebrate by learning about inspiring women from our local history. One remarkable figure is Margaret Jean Gee (pictured above), a true Vancouver trailblazer. Margaret grew up in Vancouver’s Chinatown, attended Strathcona Elementary, and made history twice—first as the first Canadian woman of Chinese descent to practice law, and also as the first Canadian woman of Chinese descent to become an air force pilot.

This week, some of our students will visit the Chinese Canadian Museum, where they'll learn about Margaret and other important women who helped shape Vancouver.

We’ve moved from letter grades to a proficiency scale in recent years. Please refer to the chart below to help you better understand the updated assessment language.
