Meal Programs

Books & Breakfast

Join us from 8:15-8:45 every morning before school starts in the “Double-O two” room (002) for a light breakfast of cereal or toast, milk and juice, fruit and cheese all in a casual and informal setting. Staff serve the children their meal. It’s a great way for students be well-prepared for their learning, and to feel well-connected to their school and to the adults there. This service is free.

This program is supported through donations made directly to the school as well as through The Vancouver Sun Children's Fund Adopt-a-School Project. To all our kind and generous donors, thank you very much!

Fruit & Veggie Program

This Parent-School jointly run program delivers a fresh fruit or vegetable twice a month to children for them to enjoy during class time, helping them learn about nutrition and healthy eating. This wonderful program relies on parents to help prepare and organize the food and is always looking for volunteers. Contact the PAC Chair or the school for further information or if you can help.

Other

Recess snack:

All students are encouraged to bring their own healthy snack from home for recess (10:50-11:05 a.m. daily).

Allergy alert:

Please be aware that Selkirk is a “nut-allergy aware” school. We have students who are allergic to nuts and nut products and ask students to try not to bring snacks or lunch items to school that contain nuts or nut products (e.g. peanut butter). If they must be brought, students must remember to wash their hands well after eating. Allergic students also are taught various precautions to keep themselves safe. If your child has a food allergy, please let the office know.
