Parent Advisory Council

What is the Parent Advisory Council (PAC)? The primary role of the PAC is to “advise the Board, Principal and staff of the school respecting any matter relating to the school.” The PAC consists of all parents and guardians who wish to attend monthly meetings and volunteer to help with planning, coordinating, and fundraising for events and activities throughout the school year.

When and where are PAC meetings held?

David Livingstone PAC meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm in our school library and through a zoom meeting if you are unable to join us at the school. We also offer babysitting for your children with our fabulous grade 7 leaders next to the library. It is really lovely to get together and talk about ways we can support our school.

Who can attend PAC meetings? Meetings are open to all David Livingstone
parents, guardians, staff, and invited guest speakers.

What happens at PAC meetings? At meetings we discuss school issues, provide advice on policy and procedures, support school programs, and plan special events for students and families. Each meeting includes reports from the Chair, Treasurer, Committees, and Principal. In addition, teachers and guest speakers may present information on a variety of topics.

What elected positions are there on Council? Elected positions include Chair, Vice or Co Chair(s), Secretary(s), Treasurer, and Members at Large. Elections are held in September and any parent or guardian may run for a position or cast a vote.

Are there any other opportunities for parents to volunteer?

In addition to the elected PAC positions, there are many other opportunities for parents to volunteer to help plan, organize, fundraise, and assist with the events and activities that happen throughout the school year.  Information about the various PAC committees, activities, events, and volunteer opportunities can be found on the PAC website.

What does fundraising involve and why is it needed? Fundraising events are supported through the volunteer efforts of the PAC. Proceeds from these events fund items not covered by government funding sources. These items typically include technology equipment and software, library books, gym equipment, audio-visual supplies, field trips, and additional “special event” funding.

Where can I find more information? PAC information is posted on the PAC bulletin board in the main hall next to the office, in the Library and on the PAC website (http://www.livingstonepac.org/), on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/livingstone.pac/).

How can I contact the PAC? Email livingstonepac@gmail.com or leave a note in the PAC mail slot next to the PAC bulletin board in the hallway outside the office.
