As National Truth and Reconciliation Week begins, staff gathered at the VSB Education Centre to reflect and learn about the significance of the week and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

In honour of the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities, a flag was raised today and will fly until September 30, 2023. While staff raised the flag, Brandon Peters, a member of the Tla'amin Nation, shared an honour song, Blessing of the Floors, by Drew Blaney also of the Tla'amin Nation.

Today’s gathering was one of many events, activities and commemorations this week to acknowledge the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools.
