Beautiful Graham Bruce Elementary School!
Dear Graham Bruce Families,
Today was a beautiful, sunny day and our students were active and engaged in a variety of outdoor activities. As always, please ensure that your children come to school dressed for the weather and in layers, as the weather is unpredictable with some days being cooler and wet!
SALEEMA NOON BODY SCIENCE @Bruce
Thanks to those parents who attended the online workshop on April 10th. I hope you found the presentation informative. Our students' workshops will take place on Wednesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 18th. Please refer to the email that was sent to you earlier for more information.
CRAFT FAIR @Bruce
Please remember that our much anticipated Craft Fair and Kids Market is taking place on Thursday, March 25 from 4:00-6:00pm in the school gym. Our interested student entrepreneurs from Graham Bruce Elementary and Collingwood Neighbourhood School will be there to showcase and sell handmade arts and crafts (non-food related). Many thanks to our PAC co-chair, Ms. JL Luna for leading this event.
Track and Field @Bruce
The Track and Field season is starting soon at Bruce! Many thanks to Ms. Tan, Ms. Conley and Ms. Roberts for taking the lead this school year to offer this opportunity to our Grade 4-7 students. Parents of our interested students will receive an information letter soon with details about practices and else.
DIGITAL RESPONSIBILITY @Bruce
We are pleased that our Gr. 4-7 students had the opportunity to participate in the online Media Awareness workshops offered by ERASE. The world we live in requires that we teach our students the skills that will help them be good digital citizens. We expect students to practice social responsibility and good digital citizenship when using technology. In order to support responsible online citizenship at home, it is important that parents also reinforce these expectations by monitoring their children’s online behaviour when students are using technology. It is important that we help students with the choices they make while gaming and/or participating in social media sites. We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents how they can support their children at home with safe and responsible digital citizenship:
• Be aware of what your child is doing online with regards to both gaming and social media
• Be aware of who your children are communicating with in the digital world by making yourself aware of what your son or daughter is doing online, and who they are talking to.
• Only allow your son or daughter to join/participate in sites that they are willing to have you participate in as well.
• Limit the amount screen of time your son or daughter has in a day. Consider having Wi-Fi-free hours where the Wi-Fi is switched off or unplugged at night.
Please review the Government of Canada’s Digital Citizenship Guide for parents if you need any more information on this topic, or need any help facilitating conversation about digital citizenship with your child. If you have any questions or need support please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher and/or the school principal, Mrs. Samiei.
UPCOMING DATES
