Happy Holloween! Emotions Inspired by Inside Out!
Dear Graham Bruce Families,
Bye October! Hello November!
October was a vibrant month for our curriculum! We had high-energy Bollywood dancing sessions, and our Halloween parade was full of creativity and dance moves, led by Ms. Dong and Ms. Tsang. Our athletes practiced and played soccer under the leadership of Mr. Clinton, while our Cross Country team excelled under the guidance of Ms. LaTosky. Our Volleyball players are practicing and playing under the coaching of Ms. Learmonth and Ms. Conley.
Our Scholastic Book Fair, organized by Ms. Jack, our teacher-librarian, was a success. Our students learned a lot about elections through the Election Project led by Mr. Robertson and Ms. Jack. We were delighted to meet many parents at the parent-teacher conferences and hope you found those meetings meaningful. Our teachers are always available for any conversations focused on student learning and well-being.
We practiced three emergency drills: Lockdown, Earthquake, and Fire drills in October. Our staff also participated in a day of learning on October 25th, ProD day.
Many thanks to our PAC Executives for transforming our grass field into a pumpkin patch on October 24th! This was a very fun activity for our students.
We are proud that October was a productive month at Bruce!
Clubs @Bruce!
Our school offers a range of different clubs, including the Earth and Environment Club and the Coding Club, both led by Ms. Roberts. The SOGI Club is led by Ms. Jack, and the Dance Club is led by Ms. Callaway. Additionally, our youth and family worker, Ms. Parmar is offering three clubs: Comic, Yarn, and Board Game clubs. There’s a lot to do at Bruce! Many thanks to our staff members for making Bruce a nurturing environment for our students.
Kindness and Gratitude Show @Bruce!
On Monday, November 4th, our school will host a presentation focused on Kindness and Gratitude. Steve Harmer, a professional educator (former principal) and magician, combines his skills to present Motivational Magic assembly programs in schools and communities across Western Canada. Using magic, juggling, comedy, music, and storytelling, Steve delivers meaningful messages that inspire, educate, and motivate both children and adults.
Arts Umbrella Workshops for Intermediate Classes @Bruce!
The Arts Umbrella Outreach program is offering Stage Coach Theatre Workshops to our intermediate students from November 5-7. Arts Umbrella artist-instructors bring creativity-inspiring activities to our school. Each participating class explores a curriculum-relevant topic through theatre, experiencing the arts through performing, theatre games, and more. Children have the opportunity to embrace diversity, explore artistic expression, and nurture community spirit—all while having fun!
