Drumming

Drumming at Bruce!

Dear Graham Bruce Families,

We were pleased to see many families attending the student-led conferences at our school on April 23rd and 24th. Student-led conferences play a crucial role in helping students take charge of their learning journey. They enhance student engagement, boost communication skills, and promote greater self-awareness. Our teachers and staff are always available to meet with you, answer any questions, and make recommendations for supporting students. May and June are busy months at school with ongoing learning and many school-wide and classroom activities. Please make sure students come to school dressed for the weather!

Student Vote

At Graham Bruce Elementary, students are taking part in the Student Vote Canada program, where they are learning about government, the democratic process, and how voting works. With support and materials from the program, students will cast their votes on April 24th and 25th in a parallel election that mirrors the upcoming federal election. Their votes will be combined with results from other participating schools across Canada to show which candidates were selected by students. These results will be released after the official election on April 28th. To help our younger learners engage in the process, primary students voted for their favourite ice cream flavours, giving them a fun and age-appropriate introduction to voting. Students have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to participate and learn about how elections shape our communities. Many thanks to Mr. Robertson and Ms. Jack for organizing and leading this event.

Sarah McLachlan School of Music @Bruce!

We are pleased to announce that the Sarah McLachlan School of Music offered three classes in our school, Divisions 5, 6, and 7, four free drumming sessions in April. Today, our student drummers performed at our school assembly and did a fantastic job! Students who received drumming instruction will continue to receive music instruction from the school for the next two years at Bruce. Thank you, Sarah McLachlan School of Music!
