Pharmacy Technician

This 12-month diploma program is taught at Vancouver Community College (VCC) Broadway Campus and starts in January.

Program Details

In the Vancouver Community College Pharmacy Technician program, students will learn to safely and accurately prepare and distribute pharmaceutical products, promote patient health, and communicate with health care professionals in a community or hospital pharmacy.

Please note that students must be in grades 10 or 11 to apply for this program. Applications for this program are due by December 1st.

Please note: The VSB will only pay the tuition for a portion of the program. Please contact careerprograms@vsb.bc.ca for information on how many terms will be funded.

Course Contents

Students will learn to perform the role of a pharmacy technician within current legal, ethical and professional standards.

Program Pre-Requisites

Students are required to meet the admission requirements as determined by VCC prior to starting the program. Please speak with a School Counsellor to make a plan to complete these courses.

  • A minimum of 70% in Foundations of Math 12 or Pre-Calculus 11
  • A minimum of 70% in Chemistry 11
  • A minimum of 70% in Anatomy & Physiology 12
  • A minimum of 80% in Language Arts 12
  • A minimum of 80% on the VCC Health Sciences Math Assessment (sample assessment)
