The Vancouver School Board partners with BCIT to offer the SkilledTradesBC Youth TRAIN in Trades Carpentry program.

Program Details

This program is taught at BCIT (Burnaby campus) and runs from February to April. Classes are held Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm.

The School District covers the cost of tuition. However, students will be responsible for purchasing their own program learning resources and equipment.

Please note that students must be in grades 10 or 11 to apply for Youth Train in Trades programs. Grade 12 students may apply for Youth Train in Trades only if they can complete their program before they finish grade 12.

Course Contents

Students will be introduced to safe work practices; drawing and specification interpretation, material identification, the use of hand tools and portable power tools and other shop equipment.
