What do I need to know about Registering for school at Gordon?

Once you have registered on line via the VSB website please call the school at 604-713-5403 Ext 2 to request a time to come visit with your paperwork.

Important Information for Families Registering for Kindergarten

Currently General Gordon is experiencing an increase in the number of students living within our catchment area who want to attend General Gordon.  General Gordon may not have space to accommodate all in-catchment Kindergarten students for the 2024-25 school year.  In the event that we receive more Kindergarten applications than we can accommodate the following process will be followed:

Kindergarten Registrations Received Between November 1st  2023 and January 31st, 2024:

  1. First, in-catchment Kindergarten registrants who have a sibling who is currently attending and who will continue to attend General Gordon next year will be enrolled first.
  2. The names of all other in-catchment registrants will be entered in a random draw for the remaining Kindergarten spaces.
  3. Students who cannot be accommodated will be placed on a waitlist in the order in which their name is drawn.

Kindergarten Registrations Received AFTER January 31, 2024

All In-catchment Kindergarten registrations received after January 31, 2024 will be added to the existing waitlist by date and time the application is received.

Please Note:  There will be no priority given to registrants with siblings already attending General Gordon after January 31, 2024.

When will I be informed as to the status of my child’s application?

Families will be contacted by the end of February regarding the status of their child’s Kindergarten application.  In the event that we are unable to accommodate all in-catchment registrants, students who could not be accommodated will be placed on an ordered waitlist.  The district will identify an alternative school placement for all waitlisted students.  Students placed at an alternative school location will be offered a space back at General Gordon when one becomes available based on their numbered order on the waitlist.

Families who could not be accommodated and wish to apply to other schools should note that the cross boundary application process is open from February 1 to February 28, 2024.  Please note that cross boundary applications, within equivalent priority groupings will be accepted by draw not by date and time of application.

If at any time you wish to remove/cancel your child’s application to General Gordon please do so in writing to the secretary Heidi Leung at  We will not be able to accept verbal cancellations this year.  Tours of our school will only be conducted during the Welcome to Kindergarten Event.  We cannot accommodate separate viewing requests.
