Who Are Multicultural Liaison Workers (MCLWs)?

Multicultural Liaison Workers (MCLWs) are cultural and language support staff with the Vancouver School Board. They work under the ELL support services at the Newcomer Welcome Centre (NWC).

They work with schools to build inclusive bridges between cultural communities and the school system to help everyone feel welcome and included.

They help students adjust to a new culture and support their emotional well-being. They also guide families to helpful community services.

MCLWs explain how schools work and encourage parents to be involved in their child’s education.

MCLWs help parents and school staff understand each other by providing linguistic and cultural interpretation.

They are here to support you!
