Portable Electronic Devices at School
OUR SCHOOL POLICY
Portable electronic devices (phones and tablets, etc) are not allowed during school time.
Portable electronic devices are not for unstructured time. Such as before and after school (8:40-9:00 and 3:00-3:20) or at recess and lunch.
Portable electronic devices are the student/family’s responsibility and the school cannot be responsible for the loss or damage.
CONSEQUENCES FOR INAPPROPRIATE USE
Students using these devices during the school day, without staff supervision, will have their device confiscated and returned at the end of the day. If this continues to be an issue, the device will be kept locked until a parent can come in to retrieve it.
HOW FAMILIES CAN HELP:
Encourage your child to follow the guidelines as set by the Ministry of Education
Come in and talk with staff if you have questions.
Review all social media that your child is on.
Do not allow access to social media for students under the age of 13.
WE CARE ABOUT OURSELVES
We will give our eyes and thumbs a break.
We will keep devices safe and in our backpacks (if we choose to bring them to school).
WE CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER
We do not take someone’s picture and we never post pictures of others online.
We keep private information, private.
WE CARE ABOUT THIS PLACE
We have respect for the guidelines.
We use appropriate apps and games respectfully.
We have real “facetime” with our classmates, friends and teachers.
