THANK YOU TO THE ELKS
With sincere gratitude, χpey̓ Elementary School extends heartfelt thanks to the Elks for their ongoing generous support of cultural learning. Their contributions have made possible a wide range of meaningful opportunities for our students—experiences that would not otherwise have been available.
Students have engaged in rich, hands-on learning, including a trip to Grouse Mountain that included participation in cultural dancing and presentations at the Hiwus Feast House. They have also explored important cultural traditions by creating items such as turtle and deer skin rattles and learning about T-dresses (sewn and designed by Lacey Bull, parent). In addition, our indoor garden continues to thrive as a living connection to land and learning.
The Elks’ donation has also supported the purchase of sage and other Indigenous supplies, enabling daily smudging and the meaningful practice of gifting to guests throughout the year, including at our Grade 7 leaving ceremony and community gatherings.
These experiences are helping students deepen their understanding, build respect, and develop a strong sense of connection to culture and community—work that is making a lasting impact across our school and contributes meaningfully to truth and reconciliation.
