Key Concepts

There are seven key concepts which drive the inquiry process, giving it direction and purpose. These powerful ideas have subject significance but also connect to other curricular areas. Different concepts are emphasized in each unit of inquiry as well as in stand-alone activities.

The key concepts are:

Form

What is it like?

Function

How does it work?

Causation

Why is it like it is?

Connection

How is it related to other things?

Change

How is it changing?

Perspective

What are the points of view?

Responsibility

What is our responsibility?

There are also many related concepts that drive the learning.  These include both subject-specific and cross-curricular concepts.  Some examples are structure, pattern, communication, adaptation, interdependence, truth, rights, diversity, systems, and equality.
