2024 Schulich Winners
Congratulations to Samuel Wong of Windermere Secondary and Patrick Huynh of David Thompson Secondary for winning the prestigious Schulich Leader Scholarship!
Schulich Leader Scholarships support Canada’s top talent in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The award is Canada’s largest undergraduate scholarship, and every high school in the country can only submit one Schulich Leader Nominee. Nominees are chosen based on academic excellence in STEM, entrepreneurial leadership, and financial need. There were over 300,000 secondary school candidates which were narrowed down to 100 scholarships given across the country.
Samuel and Patrick were awarded for their future studies in engineering with scholarships valued at $120,000 each. Samuel Wong will be using his scholarship to study at Queens University and Patrick at the University of British Columbia.
Of this year’s group of recipients, program founder Seymour Schulich says, “this group of outstanding students will represent the best and brightest Canada has to offer and will make great contributions to society, both on a national and global scale. With their university expenses covered, they can focus their time on their studies, research projects, extracurriculars, and entrepreneurial ventures. They are the next generation of entrepreneurial-minded, technology innovators.”
Good luck to Samuel and Patrick for all the opportunities that come with this amazing award and achievement.
