Current Hamber catchment elementary school students applying to Grade 8 at Eric Hamber from one of Hamber's six catchment elementary schools
For all students currently attending one of Hamber Secondary's elementary catchment schools (Carr, Cavell, Fraser, General Wolfe, Osler, Van Horne) the articulation process began early January 2023. If your child attends one of these six elementary schools your family will receive a Hamber Grade 8 enrolment/course selection form at the end of January 2023.

CURRENT HAMBER CATCHMENT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS APPLYING TO GRADE 8 AT ERIC HAMBER FROM a NON-CATCHMENT VSB ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
If your child currently attends Grade 7 at a non-Hamber catchment VSB elementary school please complete the following two application steps:
Step 1 - prepare the following paperwork:
- Complete the attached Gr-8-non-catchment-regular-program-enrolment-form-2023-2024.pdf
- Child's proof of identity (birth certificate or Canadian immigration or citizenship documents)
- Valid Driver's License/ BC ID showing name and current address (BOTH parents required)
- Proof of address in Vancouver (recent property tax statement, purchase agreement, or rental agreement plus at least one recent bill invoice showing name and address)
Step 2 - Scan and email all of the above paperwork to Hamber's Records Clerk.
Eric Hamber's Challenge Studio Program is designed for highly-able students who wish to be challenged by a grade 8-12 program that encompasses both acceleration and enrichment. Further information on all VSB Mini School Programs can be found here.
In-catchment Grade 9 - 12 students currently attending another VSB secondary school who wish to attend Eric Hamber
Please complete the following two application steps:
Step 1 - prepare the following paperwork:
- Eric Hamber Secondary Student Registration Gr. 09-12 Form.pdf
- Child's proof of identity (birth certificate or Canadian immigration or citizenship documents)
- Valid Driver's License/ BC ID showing name and current address (BOTH parents required)
- Proof of address in Vancouver (recent property tax statement, purchase agreement, or rental agreement plus at least one recent bill invoice showing name and address)
- Copy of most recent report card
Step 2 - Scan and email all of the above paperwork to Hamber's Records Clerk.
In-catchment non-VSB or new to catchment AND born in Canada Grade 9-12 applicants
If you are living in Hamber's catchment and your child is not currently attending one of Hamber's six catchment elementary schools AND your child is born in Canada OR you are new to the Hamber catchment AND your child is born in Canada, please complete the following three application steps:
Step 1 - complete and separately submit the VSB's online application.
Step 2 - prepare the following paperwork to submit for Step 3 below:
- Eric Hamber Secondary Student Registration Gr. 09-12 Form.pdf
- Child's proof of identity (birth certificate or Canadian immigration or citizenship documents)
- Proof of parent/guardian status (picture ID such as passport or citizenship card)
- Valid Driver's License/ BC ID showing name and current address (BOTH parents required)
- Proof of address in Vancouver (recent property tax statement, purchase agreement, or rental agreement plus at least one recent bill invoice showing name and address)
- Copy of most recent report card
Step 3 - Scan and email all of the above paperwork to Hamber's Records Clerk.
In catchment applications for students not born in Canada
Any students who are NOT born in Canada must register at the Newcomers Welcome Centre. For more information, please click here.
Cross-boundary applications (please note late or early applications will not be accepted)
There is very limited space at Eric Hamber Secondary for students who reside outside of our catchment area.
