Programs

Athletics

Students are provided the opportunity to join different team sports throughout the year depending on staff availability and student interest. These may include soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross-country and/or Track & Field. Students usually practice 1-2 times per week with games against schools in our zone or at the district level.

Choir

Students may join either Junior or Senior choir depending on their grade level. Throughout the year, choir members will participate in rehearsals and have opportunities to perform at school events or assemblies.

Dance

Primary and Intermediate students have the opportunity to join Junior or Senior dance teams. Students diligently rehearse throughout the school year and perform at school events, assemblies and/or district performances.

Field Trips

Field trips are an extension of learning in the classroom.  Prior to any field trip, parents/guardians are notified with a Field Studies consent form outlining the educational rationale, itinerary and any other pertinent information. Forms must be signed prior to student participation in the field trip.  At times, parents/guardians may be asked to be volunteer drivers and will be asked to complete associated liability and insurance documents.

The VSB Financial Hardship Policy ensures that no student will miss an opportunity to take part in a field trip for financial reasons.

Core French

French as a second language is currently taught to Grades 5 to 7 students.  The emphasis of the program is to provide opportunities for the learners to develop an understanding and appreciation of other cultures, to learn basic French, and to gain confidence in his/her own abilities as a learner and as a user of the French language.
