Community Schools Team (CST) Activities

The David Thompson Community Schools Team offers after-school programs which allow students to have fun while  participating in a variety of activities led by our trained secondary school leaders and post secondary interns. These programs help students to develop skills and confidence necessary for strong academic achievement.

Registrations will occur in a lottery system with families being able to sign up via email.  As programs get up and running we will share the details here and email families.

Project People Hub's HOOPS Life Program Description

HOOPS Life is a co-ed youth basketball program focused on life skills development. Instead of solely emphasizing wins and losses, we prioritize healthy competition, teamwork, and challenge. The program uses basketball as a dynamic and engaging vehicle to teach six core life skills: Visualization, Confidence, Teamwork, Physical Health, Emotional Health, and Fun. Each session combines interactive life skills lessons with basketball skill-building activities, encouraging participants to apply what they learn on and off the court. Our approach is non-judgmental, empowering youth to understand different perspectives and make their own choices, rather than prescribing a specific way of life.
