Athletics
Welcome to Gladstone Athletics, home of the Gladiators.
Gladstone Athletics has a long history of excellence with many current and former coaches being alumni of the school. We take pride in giving opportunities to our students to participate, learn, and compete in a variety of sports. As part of the Vancouver Secondary Schools Athletics Association (VSSAA), students on a Gladstone sports team will compete against other schools in the Vancouver school district (VSB 39), with more opportunities to compete against schools outside the district through post-season competition, tournaments, and exhibition matches.

Tryouts
Tryout dates vary for each sport and are announced via Microsoft Teams, PA announcements, or through the athletics social media channel. Typically, tryouts will begin shortly before the first month of the season of play (e.g. basketball tryouts are typically just before November). If you have any questions, please contact the school Athletic Director.
Athletic Fees and Uniform Fees
Athletic Fees go towards the costs involved with each sport and include league membership and association fees, tournaments, equipment and supplies, facilities, coach certification, allocated referees, and minor officials. The athletic fee varies depending on sport, and additional fees may be required if teams participate in more tournaments during the season.
A refundable uniform deposit will be collected for each sport team. This fee will be refunded upon the return of school uniform in clean, usable condition.
As per VSB and VSSAA policies, financial hardship will not be a barrier to opportunities to participate; applications for financial assistance and subsidies must be coordinated with your counsellor.
