This year, VSB hosted its fifth annual DEI Youth Conference on April 25, 2024, at the Simon Fraser University (SFU) Segal Centre in downtown Vancouver. The conference welcomed 180 attendees, with students every secondary school in the District.

Students spent the day taking workshops and listening to speakers on subjects ranging from zine making (small magazines with text and/or visuals), spoken word poetry, Deaf justice, and intersectionality in skateboarding communities. They also learned about the Seven Sacred Laws through graffiti art with VSB educator, Tracy Healy, and enjoyed a panel discussion with SFU academics and change makers. 

The event was planned by students for students who all share a passion for making schools, and society, more inclusive, just and welcoming for everyone.
