International Baccalaureate Program Overview
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is a rigorous two year, pre-university course of studies that meets the needs of highly motivated secondary school students. IB candidates apply in Grade 10 to enter the program in Grade 11. The program is completed in Grade 12 with IB examinations in May.
The DP consists of taking one subject from each of the six subject groups and the DP core of Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS). At least three and not more than four courses are taken at Higher Level (HL) and 2-3 courses at Standard Level (SL). Students may elect to do two subjects from groups 2, 3, or 4 instead of a subject from the arts.
A student may apply to a partial IB program in which the student would take IB courses at the Higher Level if possible from up to 3 subject groups.

IB Application Information
November 25, 2026: IB info night at 7:00pm
December 17, 2026: IB Applications Due at 3:00 p.m.
January 18-26, 2027: Short-listed candidates will be contacted via email to schedule an interview. The Interview will be conducted in-person or virtually. A skills assessment in English and Mathematics may be required.
February 11, 2027: Letter of acceptance will be sent out via email.
February 16, 2027: Candidates are to confirm Acceptance of the offer via email to britib@vsb.bc.ca by 3:00 p.m.
