Administrative Procedure 100: Strategic Plan

Background

Planning in public education supports equitable opportunities for all students and ensures that funding and resources are used in the most optimal way. This enables students to become self-reliant, responsible, caring, and contributing members of society.

Procedures

1. The following guidelines must be adhered to when engaging in system planning:

1.1 All strategic planning must be guided by the District’s mission, vision, values, and goals.

1.2 Planning must reflect both the provincial government and Board priorities.

1.3 All activities must be grounded in sound, thoughtful planning processes.

2. A strategic plan that reflects local needs and meets Ministry accountability requirements shall be developed and implemented.

2.1 The strategic plan shall be maintained and updated to ensure a focus on efficient and meaningful improvement throughout the District.

2.2 Reports related to progress made in the implementation of the strategic plan shall be provided to the Board as required.

3. The Superintendent shall:

3.1 Provide administrative support to the Board in the development of a strategic plan.

3.2 Develop a communications plan to share strategic actions that are to be undertaken in the upcoming school year.

3.3 Ensure the strategic plan is widely distributed and made accessible on the District website.
