Communicating Student Learning

Reporting Requirements
Across all grades (Kindergarten–Grade 7), schools provide three written learning updates each year and two informal learning updates:
- Two Written Learning Updates (Term 1 in December and Term 2 in March)
- One Summary of Learning in June – end of year.
- Going forward – all of these written learning updates will be provided digitally (e.g., SpacesEDU) and parents will be able to download the PDF copy of their child’s learning update.
There are also two Informal Learning Updates (usually around October-November and April-May time). These informal learning updates may be shared through portfolio or conferences options.
Requirements for Written Learning Updates and the Summary of Learning
Both Written Learning Updates and the Summary of Learning include:
- Proficiency scale for each subject taught
(In the Summary of Learning, all subjects must include a proficiency scale.) - Descriptive feedback outlining student strengths, areas for growth, and ways to support learning
- Attendance information
- Student reflection on the Core Competencies and personal goal setting
(If not attached to the update, teachers note how and where these reflections occurred).
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s learning, your first point of contact is your child’s classroom teacher.
We value the partnership between home and school and appreciate working together to support the growth and development of all students.
