  • The Ipperwash Inquiry 

    The Ipperwash Inquiry’s website is the public face of the proceedings of the public inquiry into events surrounding the death of Dudley George.  Dudley George was fatally shot by an Ontario Provincial Police officer at Ipperwash Provincial Park in 1995 during a land rights protest by Aboriginal people. 

    A fact-finding inquiry into the events surrounding Dudley George’s death is only the first part of the  Ipperwash Inquiry’s mandate. Part two addresses broad policy issues and is aimed at gathering and analyzing information leading to recommendations for avoiding violence in similar circumstances.

    The Inquiry website has valuable resources for high school teachers and students in a variety of courses  including economics, geography, history and law. The website contains information about the Inquiry and public inquiries generally, research papers, transcripts, exhibits and a link to a live web cast of the  Inquiry’s hearings.
