Reporting A Student Absence


Student Excused Absences Procedure: 

When a student is ill, or away for an excused reason, a parent/guardian must email the school at byngabsences@vsb.bc.ca  Cutoff for each day is 2:30pm.

 If we receive your email after 2:30pm we will record your child’s absence the next day. 

To avoid confusion due to the block flip, when reporting a partial day absence please report for what period of time your child will be away instead of which period they will be missing.  

Please state your child’s:  

Full Name (first and last name) 

Student Number 

Grade 

Date(s) of Absence 

Reason of Absence 

Duration of Absence: please indicate if this is a full day absence or for what period of time your child will be away. 

 To avoid confusion when reporting a partial day absence, please report the time your child will be away instead of which period they are missing
