ON THE REFERENCE SHELVES 
Always begin your search using General Encyclopedias such as:
  •  World Book 
  • The Britannica Encyclopedia.
​A general encyclopedia covers historical topics very well and gives a general overview of your topic. Reading through some general information may also help you narrow in your subject of research.
Also consult the Biographical Encyclopedias in the Reference Collection, such as:
         The McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of World Biography (REF 920.003 ENC)

  2. Choose "Subject Keyword" search.
            Possible Subject Terms are:  
                      RUSSIA - HISTORY
                      RUSSIAN REVOLUTION

            Also search specific names of individuals.

4. Search the VANCOUVER PUBLIC LIBRARY collection.
     With an active public library card you not only have access to borrowing
     materials from their collection, but you also have access to a 

     number of databases.
      
     Search the catalogue as you would search Templeton's WEBCAT, by using
     subject keyword terms. 
To access collection of Databases:        
  • Select "Articles, Encyclopedias and More" from the ONLINE RESOURCES menu.
  • Click on "H" to jump to History databases
  • Scroll down the list and take a look at:    
HISTORY E-BOOKS - Scroll down list to find:
  • ​The Encyclopedia of Russian History (4v.) 2004
  • HISTORY REFERENCE CENTRE (Note: For this one you need to log in with your library card number and your PIN number.)
