June is Pride Month! Celebrated across North America and other parts of the world, it is a time to honour the members of the LGBTQ community and their allies. Pride is commemorated by colourful performances, art, and music promoting diversity, equality, and inclusivity. June also marks the beginning of Pride Season, celebrated through a series of wonderful events throughout the summer. Some ways in which we can show our support for the LGBTQ community include reading about the history of Pride Month, reflecting on how to be an ally, or by attending a community event. This year, the Vancouver Pride Parade will be held Saturday, Aug.5 to Aug. 6.
