Highlights: Student Learning and Well-being Committee – September 14, 2022
On Wednesday, September 14, trustee committee members and stakeholder representatives attended the first Student Learning and Well-being committee of the 2022-2023 school year.
The meeting’s agenda included one topic: the draft of the District’s 2022 annual Framework for Enhancing Student Learning (FESL) report. As outlined by the Ministry of Education and Child Care, the FESL report brings a formalized approach to the planning and reporting expectations for all school districts in the province with a focus on improving and enhancing student learning in the K-12 public system.
The District’s annual FESL report aligns with the new Education Plan, and also reflects the District’s commitment to working with Indigenous rightsholders, and education partners to continuously improve students’ outcomes.
The presentation highlighted key programs and strategies that support student success, in addition to the foundational areas of impact such as literacy, numeracy, social emotional learning, support for Indigenous learners, diverse learning needs, English language learners, and enhanced services for vulnerable learners.
The draft report will be presented for Board approval at the next public meeting. To view the annual FESL report and for meeting details, view the agenda package or watch the live stream.
