Child care facility rental
Community use of VSB facilities for child care
The Vancouver School Board (VSB) is proud to support accessible, community-based child care across our school sites. For many years, the District has partnered with not-for-profit organizations to offer high-quality child care that complements the school day and supports families.
Child care programs are typically hosted in shared school spaces—such as multipurpose rooms—that are available outside of instructional hours. This shared-use model allows VSB to expand child care opportunities while ensuring that learning spaces remain focused on students during the school day.
New child care programs
VSB continually works to increase child care spaces on school grounds for families throughout the city. New child care opportunities on VSB property are offered through a formal procurement process. When a child care space becomes available at one of our sites, we issue a Request for Expression of Interest (RFEOI) on BC Bid. New opportunities remain open for a minimum of six weeks.
Eligibility and requirements
Organizations interested in operating child care programs on VSB sites must meet established requirements. Child care centres on VSB grounds are all fully licensed, not-for-profit organizations. Detailed eligibility criteria, expectations, and submission information are provided in the BC Bid RFEOI documents.
All submissions are carefully reviewed and selected by a VSB committee.
Cost-recovery fees
Child care operators contribute cost-recovery fees for the spaces they use. These fees support the ongoing operation, upkeep, and shared use of VSB facilities.
We encourage interested organizations to regularly monitor BC Bid for new child care opportunities.
