Community Use of VSB Facilities for Childcare
The Vancouver School Board (VSB) is proud to support accessible, community-based child care across our school sites. For many years, the District has partnered with not-for-profit organizations to offer high-quality child care that complements the school day and supports families.
Child care programs are typically hosted in shared school spaces—such as multipurpose rooms—that are available outside of instructional hours. This shared-use model allows VSB to expand child care opportunities while ensuring that learning spaces remain focused on students during the school day.
New Child Care Programs
New child care opportunities on VSB property are offered through a formal procurement process. When space becomes available, a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) is posted on BC Bid and remains open for a minimum of six weeks,
All submissions are reviewed by a VSB committee, and successful applicants are selected through this committee process.
Eligibility and Requirements
Organizations interested in operating child care programs on VSB sites must meet established requirements. Detailed eligibility criteria, expectations, and submission information are provided in the BC Bid RFEOI documents.
Cost-Recovery Fees
Child care operators contribute cost-recovery fees for the spaces they use. These fees support the ongoing operation, upkeep, and shared use of the VSB facilities.
We encourage interested organizations to regularly monitor BC Bid for upcoming child care opportunities.
