Hello DLG Families,
Happy Holidays!
December has arrived, and with it comes a season of traditions and celebrations. At David Lloyd George, we are proud to have a diverse community where families honor many different customs. Winter is a time for gathering indoors, sharing stories and food, and celebrating traditions passed down through generations.
Here are some important dates to keep in mind:
- October 20 – Diwali
- December 8 – Bodhi Day
- December 14–22 – Hanukkah
- December 21 – Winter Solstice
- December 25 – Christmas
- December 26–January 1 – Kwanzaa
- January 3 – Mahayana New Year
- January 7–8 – Eastern Orthodox Christmas
For a full list of cultural and religious observances, please see the Vancouver School Board calendar attached to this newsletter.
Grounds Clean-Up
This week, Division 4 will be helping with school grounds clean-up. We appreciate their efforts in keeping our school looking its best!
Volleyball
Our Junior Girls Volleyball Team will play home games this Tuesday. If you can, come cheer them on! A big thank you to all staff and parent volunteers who make this sport possible for our students.
Traffic & Safety Reminder
As the weather gets colder and darker, we expect more cars around the school and fewer students walking or biking. Please remind your children to be extra cautious when crossing streets. A few extra seconds to look both ways can save lives.
Deconstruction Update
The deconstruction of the old school building is progressing well. Please see the attached letter for details.
PAC Meeting – Tuesday
Join us for the PAC meeting this Tuesday from 6:00–7:30 PM in the library. Everyone is welcome!
Our DPAC Representative: Jennifer Durham
We are grateful to Jennifer Durham for representing DLG at the District Parent Advisory Council. Her report is attached to this newsletter. Jennifer also attends PAC meetings regularly—feel free to connect with her there.
PAC Recycling Program
Thanks to parent Manninagh, our PAC has set up a Return-It account! Bring your refundable containers to school and place them in the designated bins. Funds raised will support enrichment activities for our students.
PAC Purdy’s Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who ordered chocolates through PAC! Orders will be ready for pickup this Thursday.
Advance Notice: PAC Glow Dance Party
Mark your calendars! The Glow Dance Party returns on January 9. Let’s light up the dark winter nights with this fun event. More details are in the attached notice.
