DLG Weekly Update November 17 - 21

DLG Weekly Update: November 17 – 21

Hello Parents and Guardians!

Here’s what’s happening this week at David Lloyd George Elementary:

🌺 Remembrance Day Assembly

A special thank you to the parents who were able to make it to our Remembrance Day Assembly. Our students, in singing, reciting, and hosting, did a great job in honouring our veterans and remembering those who have been affected by war.

🥫 Food Drive – Marpole Food Hub

Our student council has organized a 1-week blitz food drive!

  • Dates: Nov. 12–19
  • Collecting: Non-perishable food (e.g., tinned stews, pasta, canned fish) and non-food items (e.g., diapers, toothpaste, shampoo).
  • Reminder: Items must have at least 6 months before expiry.

Students can bring their items to their classroom where boxes are available.

🍃 Grounds Clean-Up

In following our Code of Conduct where we commit to taking care of our environment, this week Division 2 will be of service and helping keep our grounds clean. Thank you Division 2!

🏐 Volleyball

Thank you to all family members available to support our students.

  • Junior Girls: travelling to Sexsmith – Tuesday
  • Senior Boys: playing at Moberly – Wednesday
  • Senior Girls: playing at a site TBD – Thursday

A huge thank you to the staff and parent volunteers who help coach, giving up their before and after school time to make volleyball a rich tradition at DLG.

📚 Professional Day – Friday, November 21

This Friday will be our 3rd of 6 mandated professional days this school year. There will be no school for students as staff attend workshops to stay informed on the latest strategies in education.

🎶 Winter Concert – Save the Date!

Please save the date for our Winter Concert – Jungle All The Way on December 18th!

Hot Chocolate Cone Fundraiser for the DLG Music Program:

We are raising money to maintain, repair, and replace instruments and musical equipment/accessories. Proceeds will also help invest in more instruments for classroom use.

  • Pre-orders through SchoolCashOnline begin Monday, November 17 and continue while quantities last.
  • Pick-up: Evening of the concert (Dec. 18). Items not picked up will be given to students on Dec. 19.
