In December, the staff across the District took part in the annual VSB Gives Back campaign, in support of Vancouver Firefighter Charities’ Snacks for Kids program. VSB’s Community Giving team share a recap of the campaign below:

The 2025 VSB Gives Back campaign has officially concluded! In support of the Vancouver Firefighters Charities’ Snacks for Kids program, the campaign was a wonderful reflection of generosity across VSB and demonstrates our commitment to providing food for all students.

Snacks for Kids plays an important role in schools by providing daily healthy snacks, like fresh fruits and vegetables, and nourishing meals to more than 10,000 students. The program spans across more than 100 VSB schools and after-school programs.

On December 3, staff gathered at VSB’s Education Centre to kick off the campaign with the annual Ed Centre pancake breakfast. Various departments also generously donated raffle baskets for the event, helping to raise a total of $1,841.

On December 11, staff headed over to the VSB workshop for the annual workshop barbecue. Generous raffle prizes were donated by a range of vendors. Through VSB’s silent auction, 50/50 draw, direct staff contributions and generous contributions from various schools, the campaign raised an additional $12,516.50!

The final VSB Gives Back event, the IUOE pancake breakfast, took place on December 22 at Churchill Secondary. The event brought staff from across the district together for a hearty meal and a good cause. This event once again featured a highly anticipated raffle draw with great prizes and a well-supported 50/50 draw. Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of those who attended, the IUOE pancake breakfast raised an outstanding total of $11,624.50!

In total, the 2025 VSB Gives Back campaign raised $28,981.00, with all funds directly supporting the Vancouver Firefighter Charities Snacks for Kids program!

This collective effort reflects the deep commitment of our VSB community as we continue to support the well-being of students. We are very grateful to everyone for their incredible support. Thank you!
