Vancouver School Board re-elects chair and vice-chair
(Vancouver B.C.) - At its meeting on November 26, 2025, the Board re-elected trustee Victoria Jung as chair and re-elected trustee Janet Fraser as vice-chair for the upcoming year.
Trustee Jung was first elected in the 2022 municipal election and served as Board chair since. Trustee Fraser was elected in 2014 municipal election and served as vice-chair last year during the 2024-2025 term. Trustee Fraser also served as Board chair for four times previously, as well as on several standing committees of the Board.
During this last year, the Board advanced several key priorities that strengthened governance, improved school facilities and advocated for students across the school district. It approved a $794-million financial plan that increased classroom supports, added school and student support workers, maintained teacher staffing above provincial ratios and equipped every school with an automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
This year, the Board advanced governance by approving six key policy revisions that clarify roles, strengthen accountability and transparency as well as reinforce fiscal stewardship and ensure decisions reflect best practices in governance. The Board also advanced a formal advocacy plan aimed at equitable funding, stronger supports for Indigenous learners and students with diverse abilities, more inclusive and accessible learning environments, as well as investments in technology to provide students with modern tools. Through the Board’s advocacy work, more than $1 million of new federal and provincial funding was strengthened VSB food programs and helped address food insecurity among students.
Annually, trustees elect a chair and vice-chair to serve a one-year term.
