Britannia Master Plan and Britannia Renewal Projects
The first phase of the public engagement on the Brittania Master Plan and Britannia Renewal Projects concluded with the completion of the Britannia Renewal Master Plan in 2018.
The Britannia Renewal plan was completed in 2018. Subsequent design and planning work was done to develop concepts. In summer 2023, partners shifted funding and planning from renewal, to assessing and advancing critical maintenance for existing facilities to ensure these facilities can continue to serve the community. The necessary funding for future phases, including construction, is currently unavailable.
Britannia Master Plan
This City of Vancouver report (Council Report - Britannia Master Plan) provides an overview of the Britannia Renewal Master Plan which is the culmination of a comprehensive multiple-partner planning and community engagement process.
Britannia Renewal
The Britannia renewal area consists of properties owned by the Vancouver School District and the City of Vancouver, with the School District owning over 70% of the total land area. The project had dedicated funding for some building design and early rezoning planning for the renewal. Funding is required to move forward with future phases of the plan, including construction, and unfortunately, this funding is not in place. The work done so far, in collaboration with the community, will be essential for future planning. We sincerely appreciate the community's support and participation in this project.
